下周福州西湖国际学校即将迎来2023-2024学年的大日子——开学日（8月28日）！您和孩子都准备好了吗？

Next week is the arrival of the big day of the 2023-2024 school year - Opening Day (August 28)! Are you ready?   

开学典礼将于8月28日下午14:00准时拉开序幕，届时，我们将迎来新学年师资团队的首次亮相，古典乐团与校合唱团也为大家准备了表演。待入学注册完成后，迎新集市将于傍晚16:30-18:00举行。这是FLIS正式成为IB(MYP)世界学校后的首个学年，我们希望通过清晰晓畅的方式，郑重而亲切地让家长及学子增进对这一项目的了解：毕竟，IB终身学习者这一理念的目标对象并不仅仅局限于学子——作为FLIS大家庭的一份子，我们鼓励每位师生、家长成为积极主动的终身学习者。IB(MYP)项目的老师们为此精心准备了课程介绍展，欢迎师生家长们驻足聆听、欣赏！此外，上学年，哪些社团活动给你留下了深刻印象？本学年，又有什么新的社团活动想尝试？8月28日傍晚，欢迎来迎新集市与各大社团老师聊聊！

The Opening Ceremony will kick off promptly at 14:00 on August 28th, when we will welcome the debut of the faculty team for the new school year, and listen to performances by the FLIS Chamber Music Club and the FLIS Chorus. After the enrollment registration is completed, the FLIS Bazaar will be opened during 16:30-18:00. This is the first academic year that FLIS has officially become an IB(MYP) World School. IB Lifelong Learners are not just for students - as part of the FLIS family, we encourage every student and faculty member to be life-long learners who are active participants in their own lives. We want to make sure that parents and students understand the program in a clear and accessible way. Thus, as a part of the Bazaar, the IB(MYP) program teachers have prepared a Course Introduction Exhibition to help facilitate this. We welcome everyone to stop by to listen to and enjoy! In addition, what club activities impressed you in the last school year? What new club activities would you like to try in this school year? Come to the FLIS Bazaar on August 28th to talk to the teachers of all the clubs!

FLIS is looking forward to reuniting with old students, and welcoming new students who have recently joined our FLIS family this year!

为了让孩子们更好地从暑假生活过渡至校园生活，FLIS备好了一份入学指南，供家长及同学们参考。也请家长们保持通讯畅通，以便于班主任与您取得联系，沟通更多开学事宜。

To make returning to school smoother, FLIS has prepared this guide for your reference. Please keep the communication channels open, so that homeroom teachers can get in touch with you to let you know more about the new school year’s orientation.

Preparation: Good habits at home

☞ 按照上学时间来培养孩子的作息。

Develop routines according to the school schedule.

☞ 鼓励孩子大方地与人交往，大胆说出自己的需要。

Encourage children to make friends with others and not be afraid to speak their minds. 

☞ 布置一些小任务，如整理房间、擦桌椅等。

Set up some chores at home, for example, asking children to clean their room.

Preparation: Tips for school

☞ 熟悉校园环境：了解教室、教师办公室、厕所、医务室等场所的位置。

Be familiar with campus environment; the location of classrooms, teachers’ offices, toilets, the nurse’s station, etc.

☞ 复习之前学习过的英文单词。

Review English words learned last semester.

☞ 提前让孩子适应在书桌前端坐半小时看书、画画等。

Encourage your children to sit down at a desk for 30 minutes of study. They can read or paint to prepare themselves for the upcoming school year in advance.

☞ 鼓励孩子对暑假生活进行总结或与您讨论。

Encourage children to discuss their summer vacation with you.

☞ 督促孩子完成暑假作业，并要求他们自己检查。

Supervise your children as they finish their summer vacation homework and require them to review it themselves.

☞水杯 water bottle

☞学习文具 stationery

☞姓名贴（防止物品丢失）name tag (in case of loss)

☞住宿用品（仅住宿生）dormitory items (boarders only)

*鼓励孩子自己整理书包和开学用品。

*Parents can encourage kids to pack their school bags by themselves.
