数位结业生、毕业生将学士帽抛向天空的那一刻，又一学年落下帷幕。历数每年大大小小校园活动，毕业典礼未必是规模最大、最欢乐、最辉煌的那一个，但一定是最令人五味杂陈的那一个。

As the graduates toss their caps into the air, another academic year comes to a close. Looking back on the many events that take place on campus each year, the graduation ceremony may not be the largest, happiest, or most spectacular, but it is certainly the one that evokes the most mixed emotions.

福州西湖国际学校（FLIS）于6月26日举行了盛大的结业与毕业典礼。这是铭记蜕变的时刻：幼儿园小朋友从稚童变为会提问的小探险家、会思考的小哲学家、会创作的小艺术家……乃至成为社区的一份子，去感受、去倾听、去伸出援手。知识渊博、勤于思考、善于交流、坚持原则、胸襟开阔……升入小学的他们将有更多践行IB学习者特质的机会。

Fuzhou Lakeside International School (FLIS) held its grand Graduation Ceremony and Milestone of Achievement Ceremony on June 26. This was a moment to remember the transformation: ECE students grew from toddlers into inquisitive learners, imaginative creators, caring classmates, and confident communicators... and eventually they discovered what it means to be part of a community, learning to feel, listen, and to lend a helping hand. Students moving on to Primary will have even more opportunities to embody the IB learner profiles: Knowledgeable, Thinker, Communicator, Principled, and Open-Minded.

也是表达对家人、教师、亲友多年支持感谢，并收获殷切嘱托的时刻：Mr. Eoin老师展望五年级学子未来升学，更自由、自主的学习生活近在眼前，而他不忘多次强调，「自我管理真的非常非常非常重要……终结者系列电影主人公，伟大的哲学家约翰·康纳曾说过：『未来乃未知之数，无事命中注定，未来掌握于我辈自己之手。』」。

It is also a moment to express gratitude to family, teachers, and friends for their years of support, and to receive heartfelt advice: Mr. Eoin, the G5 homeroom teacher, looks ahead to the future of the G5 students, with a more free and independent learning life just around the corner. He repeatedly emphasizes, “…self-management is really, really, important!” The great philosopher John Connor said: “The future’s not set. There’s no fate but what we make for ourselves.”

学术校长Coyne先生则于MYP5学子结业典礼上表示，他喜爱毕业典礼，因为这是人生中一个「充满无限潜能的特殊时刻」。是的，不妨将毕业典礼视作一场关于「可能性」的庆典——在这一天，我们设想过无数次的「前程」似乎变得清晰了起来，更重要的是，它看起来如此热情，充满希望。

Mr. Coyne, the FLIS Academic Principal said at the MYP5 Milestone of Achievement Ceremony that one of the reasons that he loves being part of this event is that it is a “special moment in life that is filled with so much potential”. Yes, let's view graduation ceremonies as a celebration of ‘possibilities’ — on this day, the “future” we have imagined countless times seems to become clear, and more importantly, it looks so passionate and full of hope.

「可能性」的魅力在于它的摇摆不定与千变万化，在我们以为最黑暗、最困顿的时刻也可能泄露一线光芒、逐步扭转整个局势。从MYP毕业生代表Eduardo Barranco的致辞中，我们捕捉到了类似的「可能性」——在他加入FLIS大家庭之际。他回忆两年前自己初来乍到，既听不懂当地语言、也不了解中国文化，他觉得自己格格不入，自嘲「就像披萨上的菠萝一般突兀」。

The allure of “possibility” lies in its unpredictability and ever-changing nature. Even in the darkest and most challenging moments, it may reveal a glimmer of light and gradually turn the tide. We caught a similar sense of “possibility” in the speech by MYP5 representative Eduardo Barranco as he related how he joined the FLIS family. He recalled how, two years ago when he first arrived, he couldn't understand the language or culture, feeling out of place and jokingly describing himself “like a pineapple on pizza.”

在Coyne先生看来，人要取得成功，多半要找到一种健康的平衡：既能够运用自己的优势与内在驱动力，又懂得寻求外界的支持与引导。Eduardo同学的经历完美诠释了这一点：面对黑暗，面对前路巨大的可能，他找回了动力，也找到了自我。「即使与众不同，但我也有闪光点、我有我的价值」。他主动尝试与他人交流，并得到了同学的真心接纳。

In Mr. Coyne's view, success is about finding a healthy balance between relying your own strengths, your own motivation and with reaching out to others to accept support and guidance.  Eduardo's experience perfectly illustrates this point: faced with darkness and the vast possibilities ahead, he rediscovered his motivation and found himself. “I realized I had value. That even if I felt different, I still had something to offer.” He took the initiative to communicate with others and was genuinely accepted by his peers.

“Slowly, I became part of the FLIS family.”

高中毕业生代表Cayden同学一上台便提到，FLIS是一个他度过十二载年华，称之为「家」的地方。像Eduardo一样，Cayden也感谢了老师、同学多年对自己的帮助: 「我想对 FLIS 表示最深切的感谢，感谢它提供了如此丰富的环境，让我有幸在这里学习、探索和建立持久的友谊。」

Family. Cayden, a representative of the high school graduates, mentioned as soon as he took the stage that FLIS was a place where he called “home” for the past twelve years. Like Eduardo, Cayden also thanked his teachers and classmates for their help over the years: “I want to express my deepest gratitude to FLIS for providing such an enriching environment, where I’ve had the privilege of learning, exploring, and building lasting friendships.”

Eduardo不忘在致辞中为后来者提供建议：「对那些正在考虑搬到新地方、或尝试令人害怕的新事物的人，我想说，没错，这很难；没错，你可能会觉得自己格格不入。但不要隐藏真实的自己。要勇敢，勇于做自己，勇于做披萨上的那片菠萝。正因与众不同，你才更显弥足珍贵。」

Eduardo did not forget to offer advice to future generations in his speech: “To anyone thinking about moving to a new place, or trying something scary: yes, it’s hard. Yes, it might feel like you don’t belong. But don’t hide who you are. Be brave. Be yourself. Be that pineapple on pizza. Because what makes you different is exactly what makes you valuable.”

那么，让我们在「可能性」的面饼上装饰一点「自驱力」，一点「勇气」，撒上许多「支持」与「帮助」混合的佐料，令它散发「家」的香味……原来这就是此次毕业典礼所烤制的「未来」披萨，如此热情，充满希望——你当然可以得出自己的配方，毕竟，这是「可能性」的庆典，是你们的毕业典礼！

So, let's decorate the “possibility” pizza crust with a dash of “self-motivation” and a sprinkle of “courage,” then top it with a generous “support” and “help” seasoning, allowing it to emit the aroma of “home.” Now we have the “future” pizza baked for this graduation ceremony—so passionate and full of hope. Of course, you can come up with your own recipe, after all, this is a celebration of “possibility,” your graduation ceremony!
