4月13日至14日，福州西湖国际学校选送三组初中选手前往广东省佛山市，参与世界学者杯的区域赛角逐。
On Saturday, April 13, and Sunday, April 14, Fuzhou Lakeside International School sent three middle school teams to compete in the World Scholars’ Cup regional round in Foshan, Guangdong Province (near Guangzhou).   



世界学者杯是一个在国际上享有盛名的跨学科学术盛宴，旨在通过四个学术项目（辩论赛、协同创作、学者杯知识竞答、知识挑战）的竞赛以及一些诸如达人秀、“羊驼平衡挑战”等有趣的活动，开拓选手在未知领域的视野，并在全球化的大背景下，促进来自不同文化背景学生的交流。获得足够分数的学生便可晋级全球赛。全球赛将于夏季在六个城市展开角逐：北京、马尼拉、海牙、悉尼、德班、阿斯塔纳。从区域赛晋级的队伍可以挑选他们打全球赛的城市。
WSC is an international interdisciplinary academic competition comprised of four principal competitive events, debate, collaborative writing, the Scholars’ Bowl, and the Scholars’ Challenge, as well as fun activities such as the Scholars’ Talent Show and “Balancing Alpaca” contests. Students who score enough points qualify for the global round. The global round takes place in the summer at six different locations: Beijing, Manila, The Hague, Sydney, Durban, and Astana. Qualifying teams choose which global round they wish to attend.

All participants receive their own alpaca (the WSC mascot)! 



几位FLIS初中生十分刻苦地为参赛做足了准备，他们放弃了一些社团活动及课外时间，专注于训练自己的辩论及写作技巧。同样，几名选手也迅速掌握了组委会提供的相关主题大纲内容。所有FLIS选手在比赛中都表现得十分出色，他们在各个项目中总共获得了30枚金银牌的好成绩。
The middle school students who participated worked very hard to prepare for the competition, giving up their club times and some extra classes to focus on honing their debate and writing skills. They also had to quickly learn about and study advanced topics in the syllabus provided by the competition. All FLIS participants distinguished themselves at the competition, winning a total of 30 silver and gold medals in various categories.



祝贺女子队（八年级 Jessica同学, 七年级 Vivi同学, 七年级 Anna同学），她们在全部三轮辩论赛中均立于不败之地！也让我们特别恭喜七年级的Anna同学，她被选中参与辩论强队路演活动！所有参赛学生都有机会从辩论强队路演中观察、学习这些佼佼者的演讲技巧。
Congratulations to the all-girls team (G8 Jessica, G7 Vivi, G7 Anna) who won all three of their debates! Special commendation is due also to G7 Anna, who was selected to participate in the Debate Showcase! All students attending the competition had the opportunity to observe and learn from the Debate Showcase participants’ persuasive speech skills. 


最后，FLIS很骄傲地宣布，经过刻苦筹备、积极参赛，我校三支队伍在学者杯舞台上锋芒尽显，他们全都晋级了全球赛！恭喜八年级的 Jessica, Mickey同学，七年级的Vivi,  Anna,  Steve同学，六年级的Peter,  Andy, Yousheng与Eason同学！这些学生会得到披萨牛乳派对作为奖励，之后，他们也将紧锣密鼓地为参加全球赛做好准备！
Finally, FLIS is very proud to announce that due to their proactivity, hard work, and keen edge, ALL THREE TEAMS QUALIFIED FOR THE GLOBAL ROUND! Congratulations to G8 Jessica, G8 Mickey, G7 Vivi, G7 Anna, G7 Steve, G6 Peter, G6 Andy, G6 Yousheng and G6 Eason!! The students will receive a pizza + milk tea party as a reward for their hard work, and will shortly resume training for the global round.
