何处望神州？满眼风光北固楼。千古兴亡多少事？悠悠。不尽长江滚滚流。

年少万兜鍪，坐断东南战未休。天下英雄谁敌手？曹刘。生子当如孙仲谋。

千古浪涛淘尽多少英雄，埋没多少豪杰。可是，还有很多永不消逝的情愫留存于你我心间。3月27日，福州西湖国际学校小学部的同学们用他们精彩的中文演讲，带我们走进英雄的世界。

The waves of the past have washed away many heroes and buried many heroes. On March 27, the students of the Fuzhou Lakeside International School Primary students brought us into the world of heroes with their wonderful Chinese speeches.

小学生们年纪虽小，但想法丰富动人、讲稿结构严谨、感情真挚充沛。他们的英雄可以是亲朋好友、运动员、科学家乃至自己。从各位选手的演讲中，我们感受到了四年级Roy同学心中如英雄一般伟大的“友谊”，了解了拼搏进取的许海峰、神通广大的孙悟空、无私奉献的雷锋、淡泊名利的屠呦呦、英勇无畏的赵一曼和世界上最伟大的人——父母。

Despite their young age, the primary students had rich and moving ideas, well-structured speeches, and heartfelt emotions. Their heroes can be friends and family, athletes, scientists and even themselves. From the speeches of the participants, we felt the great "friendship" as heroes in 4th grade Roy's heart, and learned about Xu Haifeng who strives for progress, Monkey King who is a great figure, Lei Feng who is selfless and dedicated, Tu Youyou who is indifferent to fame and fortune, Zhao Yiman who is brave and fearless, and the greatest people in the world – our parents who gave us life.

每位选手都为比赛做足了准备：与内容呼应的背景音乐、精美的PPT、精心设计的手势与姿势、与观众积极主动的互动……经过激烈角逐与评委点评，奖项一一出炉。恭喜各位获奖者！正如评委老师说的一般：「希望大家一起，在生活中追寻光、成为光。」

Each participant was well prepared for the competition: background music echoing the content, exquisite PPT, carefully designed gestures and postures, and active interaction with the audience… After fierce competition and judges' comments, the awards were announced one by one. Congratulations to the winners! As the judges said in general: "We hope we can pursue light and become shine bright together."

同时，中学部也在前阵子举行了中文演讲比赛，共计15位选手在角逐中胜出。他们以饱满的热情和时而激情澎湃、时而细语、时而幽默的语言，为现场观众带来了精彩的视听盛宴。

The Secondary also held a Chinese speech contest a while ago, and a total of 15 participants won the competition. With full enthusiasm, and sometimes passionate, sometimes fine and sometimes humorous language, they brought a wonderful audio-visual feast to the audience.

MYP1的Giselle同学以「拒绝容貌焦虑」为主题，向观众阐述了她对此的理解：内心的美和外表的美是相辅相成的，但任何时候，内心的美比外表的美更为重要。她以俏皮的图片和思路清晰的论证赢得了第一名。Stacy同学认为这世界上没有绝对的美，美的定义并非千篇一律。她鼓励大家用自信做滤镜，与容貌和解。

MYP1's Giselle, with the theme of "Rejecting Appearance Anxiety", explained to the audience her understanding that inner beauty and outer beauty go hand in hand, but at all times, inner beauty is more important than outer beauty. She won first place with her playful pictures and clear arguments. Stacy argued that there is no absolute beauty in the world and that there is not only one definition of beauty. She encouraged everyone to be more confident and reconcile with their looks.
