几周前，经省委、省政府研究并报教育部备案，福建省正式启动小学一二年级与幼儿园返校复学工作。福州西湖国际学校幼儿部的学子将于6月8日陆续回到校园。寂静的春天已渐渐远去，居家抗疫几个月来，孩子们也越来越想念丰富多彩的校园生活……细细盘点，小朋友们都错过了什么？

A few weeks ago, Fujian Province officially launched the preparation of resumption work for first and second grade of primary school and kindergarten to come back to school. Fuzhou Lakeside International School's Early Childhood Education Department will be back on campus on June 8. A silent spring has faded away, and the children have been missing the rich and colorful school life for months. Let’s take a closer look, what have the kids been missing?

每年寒假结束后，
我们首先迎来正月里的庙会活动，
剪窗花、猜灯谜、练书法、看舞狮，好不热闹……
After the winter break each year.
We begin with the New Year's temple fair.
It's so much fun to cut paper for window decorations, guess lantern riddles, practice calligraphy, and watch the lion dance......

三月生机勃发，绿意盎然，
孩子们为庆祝源自爱尔兰的圣帕特里克节着绿衣、寻金币……
March is full of life and greenery.
Children dressed in green and looking for gold to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, which originated in Ireland...

接下来的复活节里，通常我们绘彩蛋，
做兔子装饰，
也提起篮子奔奔跳跳寻宝去……
Then comes Easter, we usually paint eggs,
make rabbit decorations,
and also lift the basket and run for the treasure...

Missing the old days of having face-to-face interaction with foreign teachers...

FLIS拥有一批由资深且经验丰富的欧美学前教育专家组成的教育团队，通过美国哥伦比亚大学教师学院TEFL-C专业师资培训，师生比达到1:6，提供个性化及专业化教学与关怀。我们采取主题式教学，让孩子在围绕趣味主题的学习中逐渐拓展对世界的认知。
FLIS has a team of senior and experienced preschool education specialists from the US and Europe, who have all passed the professional TEFL-C™ teacher training program of Teachers College, Columbia University. The ratio of teachers and students is 1:6, with personalized and professional teaching and care. We take a theme-based immersion approach to teaching, allowing children to gradually expand their knowledge of the world as they learn around interesting topics.

研究表明，幼儿时期是孩子语言学习能力的高峰期。在FLIS, 我们经常收获来自家长的正反馈：孩子入园一年，变得更加自信，也能自然用英语与外教进行简单交流了！
Studies have shown that early childhood is the peak of a child's language learning ability. At FLIS, we often get positive feedback from parents that their children have become more confident after a year in school and are able to communicate naturally and simply in English with their foreign teachers!


此外，双语教育的优势不言而喻。能够流利使用一种以上语言的人拥有更好的解决问题的能力，更好的注意力，能够提升执行力；同时，他们罹患阿茨海默综合征，痴呆症以及其他大脑恶化性疾病的几率和程度都会减少。能够使用双语的儿童，因为有更强的工作记忆（Working memory, 指当我们处理其他任务的时候，我们在大脑中记住的信息量），在学习阅读时或许会有一些优势！
What’s more, the advantage of bilingual education speaks for itself. People who speak more than one language fluently throughout their life have better problem-solving skills, better attention, improved executive function, and reduced risk and severity of Alzheimer's, dementia, and other brain deterioration issues. Children who are bilingual may also have some benefit in learning to read due to stronger working memory.

CAASEL是统合、学术、艺术与情商学习的英文缩写。该实践基地是福州西湖国际学校的“第二课堂”，为福州学校业内首创。CAASEL中心课程分为艺术熏陶、情商课程、亲近自然&生活技能三大类。
CAASEL, the Collaborative, Academic, Arts, and Social-Emotional Learning center is the "Second Campus" of FLIS. It is the pioneer for this among Fuzhou schools. CAASEL Center courses are divided into three categories: artistic cultivation, EQ courses, and close to nature & life skills.

孩子们在这里学习与小动物和谐相处，也亲手播下希望的种子，春种秋收，感受四季轮回，自然的力量；他们同样在艺术老师的指导下制作工艺品，送给家人、为慈善募捐……
Here the children learn to live in harmony with the animals, but also sow the seeds of hope with their own hands, planting in spring and harvesting in autumn, feeling the reincarnation of the seasons and the power of nature; they also make crafts under the guidance of art teachers, to give to their families and to raise money for charity...

多年来，FLIS幼儿部培养了一批又一批自信阳光、灵动而富有创造力的毕业生，回顾过去时光，欢欣有之，感人有之，有挫折亦有进步，有气馁就有成长……
Over the years, the FLIS ECE Department has cultivated a number of confident, sunny, dynamic, and creative graduates. Looking back on the past, joyful, touching moments will not be forgotten; there were definitely setbacks and frustrations, but there was also progress.
